Witches Brew Halloween Picture Frames

Hi Crafters!

Here's another quick and easy (and inexpensive) decorating idea for Halloween. Dress up your household picture frames!

I used the glittered cutouts and buttons that came with the Simply Created Halloween Banner Accessory Kit, along with the Witches Brew designer series paper to spook up my frames. There's so much to create with the Witches Brew designers series paper, besides making cards, and I've hardly made a dent in my paper pack. I love the value for so little spent! If you haven't caught my other posts, check out these craft projects that also use this awesome cardstock:

Read on to view my video tutorials and instructions so you too can dress up your frames. More pictures below too!

Of course my favorite frame is the one that displays a picture of my son on his first trick-or-treat outing. Like good old Charlie Brown, my son got...a rock. It's sort of a tradition forming, since I too got a rock when I first went trick-or-treating. Back then, the recently released "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown", inspired a neighbor to give me a rock in my treat bag (yeah, I'm that old). Like me, my son is a huge fan of the Peanuts gang, so it was only right that he too get a rock for Halloween. I'm told by my mother, that I didn't appreciate my rock very much. Unlike me, my son thought it was the neatest thing. He was very proud of his rock, as you can see in this first photo.
Love the Trick or Treat stamp from the Tags 4 You stamp set!
How fitting that it should adorn this photo frame and photo.
To make this rosette check out my other post and tutorial:
I adorned the center of the rosette by stamping the Trick or Treat stamp and punched it out with the Label Bracket punch. Then I mounted that on top of some more of the Witches Brew designers series paper punched out using the 2 3/8 scalloped circle punch.

Instructions:

1. Use what you've got! No need to purchase new frames. You can keep your existing pictures inside too, or temporarily swap them out for some favorite Halloween photos. I used some of the Halloween prints from the Witches Brew designers series paper pack (super cool!) and a picture from my son's first time trick-or-treating.

2. Add embellishments like the ones in the Simply Created Halloween Banner Accessory kit, or varying sized rossettes.

3. Yep, that's about it! Simple right?
Check out the shopping list below if you'd like to pick up any of the items I used for my frames. Details for each of my frames provided below each picture...

Video tutorial for this frame:

For this frame I added a couple of the glittered cutouts and buttons that come with the Simply Created Halloween Banner Accessory Kit. I added some spooky eyes to the bat by coloring in a couple of rhinestones with a red permanent marker and adhering them with a couple of glue dots (balled up). Some Pumpkin Pie Taffeta ribbon was added to the skull, since I felt it needed some orange. Cardstock from the Witches Brew designer series paper pack was used to fill the frame and also to cover the mat board. The frame is 5x7, but the covered mat board allows the 4x6 print to fit perfectly inside. Accessories were applied to the frame using removable glue dots.

I used another print from the Witches Brew designer series paper pack to fill this 4x6 frame. The glittered spider web cut out and buttons were from the Simply Created Halloween Banner kit. I used glue dots to nestle the Summer Starfruit button inside the center of the Black Faceted Button before adding it to the spider web.
To make the mini rosette I cut 3 strips of the designer series paper each measuring 1" x 4" and scored at every 1/4 inch. The center of the rosette is also Witches Brew designers series paper. I punched a 1 1/4" scalloped circle and adhered it to a 1 3/8 circle. Accessories were applied to the frame using removable glue dots.
Super cute!

I originally used some of the Black taffeta ribbon for the bow on my skull, However, I thought it needed more orange, so I swapped the black bow for a Pumpkin Pie taffeta bow instead.

I love the spiders on the designers series paper. It looks like they are creepy calling into all those crevices in the rosette. EEK!
